• To find out whether a given shape can tessellate
  • Give each group of pupils 20 to 25 pieces of each press-out shape.
  • Get the pupils to arrange the pieces of each shape to find out whether the shape can tessellate.
  • Get the pupils to make a list of shapes that can tessellate.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


  • To form different tessellations with a given shape
  • Give each group of pupils 20 to 25 pieces of a press-out shape. (e.g. Shape 5,7,8,9, or 10)
  • Get the pupils to arrange the pieces of each shape to make 2 or 3 different tessellations.
  • Allow the pupils to compare the various tessellations made by the groups.
