Activity(2) with SOLIDS (Primary 2)
OBJECTIVE: To explore the characteristics of solid geometric figures.
MATERIALS: Sets of rectangular geometric solids. For e.g., Set A and B. (require duplicate set)
ACTIVITIES: Let the children explore the solids, noting the similarities and differences. Once they are familiar with them. try the following activities:
Put the Set A visible on a desk. One block is chosen from the second set and handed beneath the table to a child, with instructions not to look at it. The child is then asked to identify which block from the set of blocks on the tabletop is the same as the one he or she was given. Once the block is chosen, the child is asked TO TELL WHY THE BLOCKS MATCH. The task can be made more complex by including figures in Set B.
