
Prerequisite Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of 2 and 3 dimension
- Familiarity with the properties of triangle, square,
pyramid and prism
Objectives:
- To visualise the solid from a given net; to be able
to say if a solid can be formed from a given net
- To think in 3 dimensions while working in 2
dimensions
- To construct the different nets of a given solid
Materials required:
- Geoshapes: traingles, square, rectangle
- Flip chart papers, Blu Tack, markers
Procedure:
- Use the provided geoshapes to form as many nets as
possible of one of the following solids in 20 minutes: Cube,cuboid, triangular prism,
square pyramid.
- Present them on the flip chart.
- Answer the following questions on the chart/share
them verbally during the sharing:
- What are the strategies you have discovered to
visualise the solids from the nets?
- Have you noticed any special guiding principles to
decide if a solid could be formed from a particular net?
- Think of any other question(s) you will like to ask
the rest.
